*PLEASE NOTE: We have received several emails over the past year asking for advice regarding infused oils. OUR ADVICE: Please do not think you can just pick a bunch of herbs, throw them into some oil, mix them with some other ingredients and you'll get an effective -- or safe -- final product.
We think it's great that you find the importance in "going organic" with your, and your family's, skin care products! That's how Naked Chick came to be! We just want you to know our botanically-infused oil infusions have been perfected over the last 4+ years. There is no risk of mold or transfer of natural bacteria/fungus with our infusion methods. There's a reason why not many of us are out there; not everyone can make safe, 100% organic products that are pure and free of naturally occurring nastiness!
So please, please do not attempt to infuse your own oils -- unless you know what you're doing. It's really not worth risking your, or your family's, skin health.
How long will it take for me to receive my order? Since everything we make is handmade, please allow up to one week (7 days) for us to make, inspect, and ship your product. Trust us, it's worth the wait!
Why do you use plastic instead of glass containers? After doing extensive research, we've discovered plastic is safer than glass! Since many of our products are intended to be used in or near the bath or shower, it would be careless of us to package these items in glass containers. The last thing we want you to worry about is dropping a heavy glass container in your shower. That could be disastrous! We want you to enjoy your Naked Chick experience, not get injured!
Our plastic bottles and tubs are made from impact resistant Polyethylene terephalate (PET or PETE). PET plastic is not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones. In fact, current research shows that PET does NOT contain, nor leach, estrogen-like chemicals such as BPA or other endocrine disrupters. (There is no BPA in PET plastic.)
PET is globally recognized as a safe, recyclable packaging material. Most single-serve plastic bottles, including those for water, soft drinks and juices, are made with PET.
BONUS: PET has a recycling rating of 1, so all community recycling centers accept our containers! Once recycled, which we always encourage you to do, our containers will become:
Soft drink bottles
Sleeping bag insulation
I heard essential oils break down plastic containers. Is that true? Yes, some plastics do break down while storing essential oils. That's why we only use PET plastic containers (and aluminum tins). PET containers have a high permeability resistance rating, are impact-resistant, and do not reduce essential oil aroma or efficacy. Our containers are the absolute safest option when it comes to handling, storing, and using. Plus, they are easy to recycle! (Which we always recommend you do!)
Are your products gluten-free? Yes; everything we make is gluten-free!
Can I use your products while pregnant or breastfeeding? Sure can! Unlike drugstore products, our products only contain organic, vegan, raw, nontoxic ingredients. Our Baby Chick line is perfect for soon-to-be mama birds, as well as baby birds. If you're looking to avoid fragrance during your first trimester of pregnancy, please check out our unscented products. Whenever in doubt, it's always best to go Unscented and to consult your doctor or healthcare provider prior to use.
Are you really 100% Organic and Vegan? We're not only 100% Organic and Vegan, we ONLY use USDA Certified Organic ingredients. We also ONLY work with suppliers whose ingredients have been Certified Organic by the USDA and use environmentally friendly practices.
We know becoming Certified Organic is a long and expensive process, and that's why we feel it's only right to use ingredients from these suppliers. There is no mystery as to who is vouching for their ingredients. We do not use wild-crafted ingredients, because, well, you just don't really know where these ingredients were grown and under what conditions. We feel it's best to use USDA Certified Organic ingredients. If they exist...
Some USDA Certified Organic ingredients just do NOT exist. Like Vitamin E oil and sea salt. That's not to say our Vitamin E oil and sea salt aren't pure and premium-quality, because they are...
Our Vitamin E oil contains NO artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, yeast, starch, or gluten. It's the best we, and any other skin care company, can do.
Because there is currently no USDA organic certification for salt in the United States, We choose to Use Salts that Comply With the Organic Standards In Other Countries. These salts are deemed “organic compliant.” In other words, our salts are designed to be used as an ingredient in organic products without affecting our end product’s organic status, as they contain no anti-caking agents or other additives. This is the highest and most natural guarantee possible for salts in the United States.
Every last one of our carefully sourced ingredients is vegan. We only buy from cruelty-free suppliers. We never use milk, honey, or beeswax in any of our products.
If Vitamin E Oil isn't USDA Certified Organic, why do you use it? We use it because Vitamin E oil is a Terrific Chemical-Free Antioxidant, that Naturally Extends Shelf Life! Oh sure, we could leave it out, but then your product is more vulnerable to bacteria growth (gross) and that would really reduce its shelf life. We could also throw in a chemical preservative, like some other "organic" companies, to extend the shelf life, but that doesn't fly with us. We Don't Hide Chemicals In Our Products.
Keep in mind, Vitamin E oil is only one of the many all-natural, pure, organic antioxidants we use to help preserve our premium-quality products.
When we say we're Organic, we mean we're Organic. Even when it comes to helping preserve your Naked product.
